We had a real nice day with QiuLi and Ella Jiao. Today was our last full day in Nanning. This morning we took a rented van to a typical village outside of Nanning. A lot of the adopted children apparently come from such rural villages. The landscape is beautiful with these dramatically tall hills. I was allowed to use the restroom in someone’s house and ran into some friendly pigs along the way. People in the village, as everywhere, were very friendly to us.

That looks like a wonderful time you guys had and very exciting to get out and about in the local countryside. And here I thought we had been pushing the envelope when we "braved" the Western-style restaurant across the street from the hotel. There were considerably fewer wandering pigs over there.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing all the great pics, it's so fun for Dianne and I to follow along and recognize the hotel lobby and buffet restaurant, or the park around the corner, or the loosely controlled mayhem they call street traffic in Nanning.
And now on to the drudgery of the White Swan. I do hope you survive. :) And you'll have to let us know how you think the White Swan compares immediately after leaving the Nanning hotel. We'd have prefered to keep hanging out in Nanning. Maybe you could ask if they could relocate the consolate to Nanning real quick? Might have to try "pretty please" on that one.

I have really enjoyed reading about your journey in China! We are adopting a 2 year old little girl from Pingnan County, though she is being fostered in Nanning. We are hoping to travel to Nanning in June or July and it's so fun to see your pictures and read about your experience over there! I look forward to reading about the rest of your journey and pray for a smooth transition for all of you!
